The Women and Gender Studies Student Leadership Practicum, also known as Gender Justice League, isdesigned to give students theopportunity to put what they learn about social justice into practice. Students are nominated by faculty or can apply to participate. Students are selected based on academic performance, commitment to social justice, and leadership skills. Students meet weekly as a group with the faculty advisor and receive one credit hour per semester for their involvement in collaboratingacross three main areas.GJL plansacademic eventssuch as speakers, “Conversations at the Cottage,”coordinatesphilanthropic and activist eventson a variety of issues, including Denim Days, a week ofactivism in the spring aimed at combating gender-based violence, and finallymembers publish their ownnewsletter, with student articles focusing on different feminist issues. With these publications, GJL hopes to spread a feminist voice and bring awareness to contemporary social justice issues on campus, in the community, and beyond.
