The Women and Gender Studies Department (WGST) is home to one of the most culturally diverse faculty at the Â鶹ÊÓƵ. We welcome students of color, LGBTQ+ students, first generation college students, students of various ethnic backgrounds, and all students interested in learning about gender and sexuality in a range of cultural and historical contexts.Â
Among a vibrant community of students, faculty, and staff, you will take interdisciplinary courses that combine approaches from the humanities and the social sciences and whose topics cover the globe—from the Americas to Asia and the Africa continent.
In our program, you will have many opportunities to apply course materials in real-world settings. Through the Gender Justice League, department events, movie screenings and discussions of current events, you will develop skills that will help you navigate your future workplace, media, popular culture, politics and academia with equality, dignity, and empowerment.
