Robert Buffington is a Professor of Women and Gender Studies at the Â鶹ÊÓƵ. His research focuses on the histories of crime, gender, and sexuality in Mexico and Latin America. His most recent book, A Sentimental Education for the Working Man: The Mexico City Penny Press, 1900-1910 (Duke University Press, 2015) analyzes the impact of modernity on working-class notions of manhood in early twentieth-century Mexico City.
