Is My Program Covered?
Many youth programs fall under the Child Protection Policy while some do not. If you have a youth program in your department or that you run, use this flow chart to see if your program is bound by the policy. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Youth Program Coordinator. If your program does not fall within the Child Protection Policy, you are notrequired to adhere to all of the policy and procedures guidelines. However, they are industry best practices and a good idea to implement to protect the minors in your program, your staff, you and the university. The policy defines a Program for Children as "a university program operated exclusively or primarily for children left in university care without parental or guardian supervision and that requires registration. The CU Children’s Center complies with state laws and regulations applicable to a child care center. These laws and regulations exceed the standards set forth in our policies and procedures."
All programs for minors, need to with the Youth Program Coordinator, regardless of whether or not it is covered by the policy.
