On Sept. 12, the Byron R. White Center for the Study of American Constitutional Law hosted its first SCOTUS Review lunch talk at the University of Colorado Law School. CU Constitutional Law professors broke down the latest U.S. Supreme Court decisions, their potential impact, and what to keep an eye out for in future cases. 

A widely respected voice in criminal law, human rights, and national security law, Wadie Said joined our faculty as a Professor of Law in August. Like many people seeking a law degree, Emiliano (Milo) Salazar ’23 was eager to shift into a career that was more fulfilling. After graduating from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2012, Salazar spent 8 years working in software and considered a post graduate degree for a long time. However, what Milo did not anticipate was that his legal education at Colorado Law would equip him with the tools to reconstruct his family's Indigenous history.

Most Americans will face legal issues at some point in their life. Yet, across the nation, a persistent access to justice gap exists. Individuals with significant financial resources are often the only people who can hire attorneys, and a large class of people struggle to access a lawyer at all. Prof. Staci Pratt, who serves on the Technology Committee for the Colorado Access to Justice Commission, wants to empower her students to be part of the access to justice solution.

In August, Vivek Krishnamurthy joined the Colorado Law Faculty as Associate Professor of Law and director of the Samuelson-Glushko Technology Law and Policy Clinic. Krishnamurthy’s teaching, scholarship, and clinical legal practice focus on the complex regulatory and human rights-related challenges that arise in cyberspace.
