The Supreme Court of Colorado Visits Colorado Law

Each spring and fall, the Colorado Supreme Court and Court of Appeals provide an educational outreach program called Courts in the Community for high schools--and sometimes universities -- which provides an opportunity to expose students to the state’s appellate process. On Oct. 24, the Supreme Court visited Colorado Law. Attendees witnessed oral arguments for two real cases, chosen by specifically considering students’ interests.

On September 26, members of the Colorado Law community got a unique chance to witness oral arguments before the esteemed judges of the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Attendees gained invaluable insights into the judicial process as they observed real-time interactions between judges and attorneys of one of the nation's most important appellate courts.

The Byron White Center kicks off the year with a SCOTUS Review

The Byron White Center for the Study of American Constitutional Law kicked off the new school year with a SCOTUS Review packed with new professors and insightful updates on recent United States Supreme Court decisions. Students and faculty gathered together for lunch on Wednesday, September 18 to evaluate how new decisions will impact federal agencies, voting rights, medical funding for Native tribes, and more.

Constitution Day Project Brings Conversation, Learning to Local High School Classrooms

The Constitution Day Project is put on annually by the Byron R. White Center for the Study of American Constitutional Law and provides the opportunity for volunteers acquainted with the law to teach thought-provoking and current constitutional questions to Colorado high schoolers. In its thirteenth year, Colorado Law students visited high schools across the state to teach students about their voting rights during this year’s election season. After discussing suffrage in the Constitution generally, volunteers had discussions with high school students about restrictive voter identification laws, soliciting opinions and thoughts from these young minds and seeing what Colorado’s future voters had to say about the topic.
