Erin von Gorkom
Psychology Practicum Student • MA

Erin van Gorkom is in her third year of the doctoral program in Counseling Psychology at the University of Northern Colorado. At UNC, Erin works as a Graduate Assistant for the McNair Scholars Program, where she supports low-income, first-generation and underrepresented students in line with her passion for an accessible and inclusive higher education system. She received her Master's in Clinical Psychology at Western Carolina University and her Bachelor's in Behavioral and Cognitive Neuroscience from the University of Florida. Erin applies an integrative and holistic approach to therapy, drawing from acceptance-commitment, existential, feminist and interpersonal theories.

Erin focuses on centering students’ needs and autonomy by creating therapeutic relationships that are authentic and responsive. She is committed to learning from and with each person as they explore and develop their strengths, identities and values within complex social, cultural and economic systems. She is curious about the full context of someone’s experience and is honored to share in and support their growth and vulnerability.
