Beth Parsons.
PhD • Multicultural Specialist

Beth recently joined CAPS in February 2020 as a licensed psychologist with specializations in trauma treatment and multicultural counseling. After completing her PhD in Counseling Psychology in 2000, she worked at several university counseling centers, and most recently moved to Colorado after working at University Counseling Services at Virginia Commonwealth University. She was born in England, has lived in England and Italy, and likes to travel.  Beth has a collaborative and strengths-based approach to therapy and enjoys working with students to gain new understandings, increase connection and self-compassion, build on their strengths, and explore identity and avenues for change. When not in the office, Beth enjoys gardening, hiking, yoga, and hanging out with family and friends.

The place I'd most like to visit

Having recently moved to Colorado, I would like to hike and explore the many beautiful state and national parks.

Areas of interest

Social justice and multicultural concerns, diversity/equity/inclusion, trauma treatment and PTSD, family and relational issues, identity development, concerns of international students, anxiety, grief/loss, supervision and training, incorporation of mindfulness into therapy, and wellness of students in health professions.
