Kage Policies

GENERAL POLICIES

Facilities and equipment are availableÌý³Ù´Ç students currently enrolled in a CINE course. Equipment access is subject to the student's course level.Ìý

Non-Cinema Studies students are NOT allowed to rent CinemaÌýStudies equipment. However, Alumni may reserve studios over the summer if classes aren't scheduled.Ìý

The Kage is open Monday-Friday 10am-4pm. Students MUST make a reservation. If they have not made a reservation, they will not be allowed to check out equipment.Ìý

Reservations MUST be made 14 hours in advance (e.g. if you make your order at 10pm, the earliest you'll be able to pick up is 12pm the next day).Ìý

Sometimes, assignments spring up last minute. If a student wants to check out equipment without a reservation, they are only allowed to do so during our Walk-in Hours 2pm-4pm on Tuesdays and Fridays. Any other times, the student will be told to come back during walk-ins, or to make a reservation for the next day.Ìý

Students can rent gear for a maximum of 48 hours during the week. Students can reserve a maximum of 96 hours if they're reserving equipment over the weekend. For example, a student can reserve Thursday-Monday, or Friday-Tuesday without an added extension fee.Ìý

Any reservations over 48 hours (or 96 hours, if over the weekend) has a $5 extension fee and must be approved by a manager. Students may only extend ONCE per reservation.Ìý

Graduate students may reserve for longer than 48 hours depending on what type of equipment they want, and if that equipment is scheduled to be used during a class.Ìý

KAGE RENTAL AGREEMENT

Students sign a Kage Rental Agreement at the beginning of every semester before they're able to check out equipment. Please make sure to show up 5 minutes early for your first check out of the semester to review and sign the contract to avoid any delays.Ìý

This contract covers general policies and expectations when renting equipment out from the Kage, as well as outline any penalizing fees and how to avoid them.
