Individual Consultations

At CU Boulder, we offer free and confidential teaching consultations for all educators, including tenured and tenure-track faculty, instructors of all ranks, and graduate student instructors. Whether you’re refining a course or exploring new teaching strategies, the CTL and ASSETT teams are here to support you.


What We Can Help With

Our consultations are tailored to your needs and can cover a variety of topics, including:

  • Remote & Hybrid Teaching: Strategies for adapting to different teaching modalities.
  • Student Engagement: Building community and fostering participation, even in large lecture settings.
  • Equitable & Inclusive Teaching: Culturally responsive approaches to support all learners.
  • Course Design: Guidance on syllabus creation and course structure.
  • Assessment & Grading: Designing rubrics, exploring grading or ungrading strategies, and more.
  • Innovative Teaching Methods: Integrating new strategies or instructional technologies.
  • CTL/ASSETT Programs: Learning about programming, certificates, or resources available to you.
  • Class Observations: Feedback based on in-class observations, with or without student input. (Graduate student teachers completing a VTC should contact their departmental lead.)

Individual Teaching Consultation

Requesting an individual teaching consultation to talk one-on-one with a CTL/ASSETT staff member. 
 

Please tell us what you'd like to gain from a teaching consultation. Specifically, please provide as much detail as you are comfortable sharing about the teaching-related questions, goals, challenges, or issues you would like to address. This will help us identify the most appropriate person at the CTL/ASSETT or another unit to support you.
Please list a few times that generally work in your schedule to meet with a CTL/ASSETT consultant. CTL/ASSETT staff will schedule directly with you.

Departmental or Group Teaching Consultation

Requesting a group or departmental teaching consultation. The CTL/ASSETT can design and offer trainings tailored to your department, or a group of educators. CTL/ASSETT staff members will work with you to determine appropriate teaching resources and activities to meet your group's pedagogical needs.
