MSAccounting and MS Taxation Bachelor's Accelerated Master's Program
Excellence and Opportunity
The bachelor’s accelerated master’s (“BAM”) program in Accounting and Taxation allows current CU Boulder undergraduate students to complete the bachelor’s and master’s degrees in four-and-a-half to five years, and at a significantly reduced tuition rate.
The program is designed as a 4 + 1 program for current Leeds Undergraduate students pursuing accounting, finance or both as their emphasis. Students will be able to take a maximum of four MS courses (12 credit hours) while they are still working on their undergraduate degree; Up to 3 of these courses (9 credit hours) can be taken in place of upper division undergraduate requirements. Thus, it will be possible to earn up to 12 credit hours toward the MS degree at undergraduate tuition rates, with a maximum of 9 credit hours counting toward both degrees. Upon graduating with their undergraduate degree, students will gain access to the remaining MS coursework.
Colorado (and many other states) require CPA candidates to have 150 credit hours. The MS program is 30 credit hours (31 for Taxation). While students will be allowed to “overlap” up to 9 credit hours toward both the bachelor’s and master’s degrees, these courses do not count twice toward the 150 hour requirement. Thus, students must ensure that they will have completed 120 hours in addition to the MS courses. Additional information can be found at:.
Placement of MS Accounting & Taxation students at the time of graduation has consistently been over 90% for U.S. citizens. The CPA exam pass rate for accounting students from the Leeds School of Business exceeds the national average by over 10%. Many graduates begin careers with public accounting firms in audit, tax, or business services. Others prefer information management, tax, or compliance positions within corporations. Still other opportunities exist in financial management, not-for-profit, and government agencies.
