Students on Academic Suspension

Students on academic suspension may enroll in Winter Session courses. To enroll, students must request enrollment by submitting a .

Please note: Students on academic suspension may not use a Winter Session class to reinstate to main campus in time for the spring semester. Because Winter Session is part of the spring semester, your college will not review your case for reinstatement until all spring grades have posted at the end of the spring semester.

Graduating Seniors

If you are a senior close to graduation, please be aware that Winter Session credits count toward the spring semester. Therefore, your graduation term will be spring, not fall. In other words, if your Winter Session class is the last class you need to complete your degree, your degree will be awarded at the end of the spring semester. Please work with your academic advisor or college if receiving a Letter of Completion would be helpful when you finish your Winter Session course.

If you are interested in enrolling in CU Boulder Winter Session courses without pursuing a degree at the university, you may do so by term-activating for the spring semester in  or by contacting Continuing Education at 303-492-5148.

If you enroll in winter classes and change your mind, you may be assessed a financial penalty. See the dates and deadlines section or call Continuing Education at 303-492-5148 for more information.

If you are new to CU as a non-degree student, complete and submit the Enrollment Application for Continuing Education (available in fall 2024).

  • Be sure to choose Entry Term – Spring 2025 when completing the application.

You will receive an email confirming receipt of your application.

If approved, you will receive a student identification number to activate your Identikey and search/enroll in courses via .

Newly admitted undergraduate students for the Spring 2025 semester, whether transfer or first-year, are not eligible to enroll in a Winter Session course. These fully online courses follow a very different schedule than a traditional CU Boulder course. Incoming students are encouraged to begin their CU Boulder experience with full-semester Spring 2025 coursework. Please meet with your academic advisor if you have additional questions.
