10th Annual Transportation Festival Set For Norlin Quad Sept. 3-5

CU-Boulder students, faculty, staff and community members are encouraged to dust off their bicycles and get ready to ride at the 10th annual Active and Rapid Transportation Festival Sept. 3 through Sept. 5. The CU Environmental Center and the campus Parking and Transportation Services are sponsoring the bash from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on those dates next week in the Norlin Library Quad.

Three Strikes Alcohol Policy Remains In Effect At CU-Boulder

The University of Colorado at Boulder will continue to enforce its "3 Strikes" policy for the 2003-04 academic year. Twenty-nine students were suspended from CU-Boulder for at least one semester during the 2002-03 academic year as a direct result of the alcohol and drug policy that was put into place in the fall of 2000.

Expert In Latina/o Culture Joins CU-Boulder Faculty

Compiling an encyclopedia of U.S. Latina and Latino popular culture is among the projects of newly appointed Associate Professor Arturo J. Aldama in the department of ethnic studies at the University of Colorado at Boulder. "We are extremely fortunate to have attracted Arturo Aldama, one of the brightest stars in his field, to CU-Boulder," said Professor Ward Churchill, chair of the department. "He is enthusiastic, energetic, charismatic, brilliant and an asset not only to the department of ethnic studies, but to the university community."

Unique Colorado Photo Exhibit Opens At CU-Boulder On Sept. 3

"Colorado Connection," a special exhibit of images with links to the state made by prominent photographers will be available for public viewing at the Andrew J. Macky Gallery in Macky Auditorium at the University of Colorado at Boulder on Sept. 3, 10, 17 and 24 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The exhibit was recently presented to the School of Journalism and Mass Communication by Rich Clarkson, an internationally acclaimed photographer, and John E. Holden, an alumnus of the school.

STATEMENT An Aug. 21 report by the Associated Press stated that Ismail Abu Shanab, the senior Hamas official who was killed by an Israeli missile strike on Thursday, was a graduate of the University of Colorado. The University of Colorado has no record that a person by that name attended the university. It is not known whether he attended under a different name.
