Dear CU Community:
As the medical directors for campus and in collaboration with Boulder County Public Health, we are following up on the Chancellor鈥檚 message from Friday about the rise of new cases of COVID-19 locally. There has been a significant increase in the transmission of COVID-19 among CU community members over the past few weeks, many involving individuals who have not followed public health guidance. So we want to begin by strongly reiterating the importance of continuing to practice social distancing, avoiding large groups, wearing face coverings and washing hands frequently.
For our community members who are still in the Boulder area, if you have recently tested positive, a case investigator from Boulder County Public Health will be calling you to gather information that will help us to stop the spread of the disease within our community. Due to the volume of new cases, it may take a day or more to contact you.
In the meantime, if your result is positive and Boulder County Public Health has not contacted you yet, please help by following the instructions below:
- Isolate yourself away from others.

- Instruct your close contacts to quarantine.
This includes everyone you may have spent time with while you were ill and the two days before you became ill such as听friends, family, roommates, co-workers etc.

- Write down the names and phone numbers of all of the people you identified in item 2 above so that it is ready when the case investigator calls.

As a reminder, if you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, have been in a large gathering or have been in close contact with someone with probable or confirmed COVID-19, please reach out to your primary care provider and get tested. Additional guidance can be found at (CDPHE).
We understand the fatigue that comes with social distancing measures and desire to get out and enjoy the warmer weather, but there remains a need to continue with safer-at-home practices, avoiding crowds and wearing masks in public in order to save lives and keep our community safe.
Noncompliance has serious consequences and places our entire community and our ability to deliver our educational mission at risk. It is on all of us to do our part and help prevent additional spikes in COVID-19 cases.
