Happy Halloween, Buffs! This week brings numerous Halloween events including movies, treat giveaways, a haunted house and pumpkin painting; a Politics & Pizza event; a CU student government debate; a Diwali festival; and more.

Monday, Oct. 28

Explore how alcohol and other drugs affect your life in a non-judgmental space. Information about on-campus resources will also be available.

Politics & Pizza: The Electoral College and electoral reform

This session will help bring to light how the U.S. Electoral College works, including how Election Day will happen, the notion of so-called battleground states and whether it ought to be reformed.

Join CU Boulder's Program Council for the very first Rave to the Grave! This eerie evening will include a silent disco featuring a local DJ and other popular genres of music, a laser light show, glow yard games and other fall activities!

Attend the Fall 2024 Arts and Sciences Honors Program Distinguished Lecture event and learn about Professor Tin Tin Su's discovery of "shapeshifting" cells that help tissue repair and recover after damage. Su will also discuss how her team is using a plant called the "firecracker bush" to develop new treatments for head and neck cancers.

Join the Benson Center for the Study of Western Civilization and Bridge CU for a free screening of this award-winning documentary—“a beautiful film about the power of human connection in an age of polarization and division.”

Rogers is one of the United Kingdom’s best-known arts and culture journalists with two decades of experience writing, interviewing and reviewing for The Guardian, The Observer, The Times and many political, cultural and women’s magazines. She has interviewed artists such as Paul McCartney, Billie Eilish, Elton John, Adele, Amy Winehouse, Dolly Parton and Michael Stipe.

4 things to check off your to-do list

Free ticket pickup

  • Watch the Denver Nuggets live and in person as they take on the Utah Jazz on Nov. 2 at 8 p.m. on Oct. 31 between 10 a.m. and noon in the Center for Student Involvement (UMC 330).
  • One ticket per student and you must have a Buff OneCard to pick up your ticket. If you want to go to the game with a friend, please plan to pick up your tickets together. No tickets will be held.

Wednesday, Oct. 30

  4–5 p.m.   Rec Center 
Be ready to pedal away from any zombies heading toward you as we go all out in this pre-Halloween ride. Registration is encouraged.

Join this public, in-gallery talk by artist William Villalongo, who will be speaking from his exhibition “Myths and Migrations,” currently on view. Visitors are invited to attend a reception beginning at 4:30 p.m., and galleries will be open before the talk. RSVP to attend.

  5–8 p.m.   C4C Abrams Lounge 
Join fellow Buffs to paint pumpkins, drink cider, eat sweet treats and watch a queer horror movie.

  6–8 p.m.   Wolf Law, Witteymyer Courtroom
The CUSG debate will be a dynamic event, moderated by skilled journalists from both the CU Independent and CU Bold. This debate will be split into two sections, offering students a chance to hear from candidates running for regent at-large and CUSG representative at-large.

Join the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra a spine-tingling family event. Enjoy haunting melodies and thrilling orchestral arrangements, including eerie classics like “This Is Halloween” from ”The Nightmare Before Christmas,” enchanting tunes from Pixar, Disney, “Harry Potter” and more. Dress up for a live orchestra-accompanied costume parade.


Thursday, Oct. 31

  10 a.m.–8 p.m.  &Բ;​Earth Sciences & Map Library
Drop by the Jerry Crail Johnson Earth Sciences & Map Library this Halloween to search for maps of monsters, urban legends and more. Grab treats and follow clues to locate all the mysterious maps around the library.

  3–5 p.m.   South of UMC, across from Broadway underpass 
Halloween is here! What experiences do you want to have? Join us to help make your night the right amount of safe and spooky. We will be offering free food, Narcan and safer sex supplies for all students. Stay safe, Buffs!

  4–7 p.m.   Beach Park 
Have a scary fun time at the annual “Hill”oween event. Join Off-Campus Housing & Neighborhood Relations for a free food, pumpkin carving and a costume contest. This event is free and open to all students. No registration is required.

Get ready to smash some pumpkins and enjoy fall-themed treats and prizes!

Join our annual Kitt Halloween Bash! Show off your talents with scary-oke (karaoke), enter the costume contest, play a variety of Halloween board games, make a homemade Halloween craft and meet new friends in your neighborhood! Free snacks and prizes will be provided.

  7–10 p.m.  &Բ;​The Connection 
Join CU Boulder's Program Council for bowling, music and a costume party to celebrate your Halloween night! There will be live music, glow in the dark bowling food and more. Don't forget to wear your best costume for a chance to win a special surprise!


Friday, Nov. 1

Come out to The Grotto and enjoy some Halloween and horror movie trivia. Bring some friends or make new friends as you form a group of up to six, enjoy some snacks and refreshments, and compete for awesome prizes.

Stop by and celebrate Diwali, one of the biggest festivals in India. The celebration will include painting traditional clay lamps, crafting beautiful paper lanterns and creating stunning bracelets with beads.
