The biennial University of Colorado Social Justice Summit is coming in January and will center on strengthening our diverse democracy and creating more just and inclusive campuses—and a more just and inclusive world.
CU Boulder will host the virtual, daylong summit on Jan. 31, with the overarching theme “Operationalizing Liberation for a Diverse Democracy.”
The summit is open to all undergraduate and graduate students, administrative and frontline staff, and faculty from CU Boulder, CU Denver, UCCS, the CU Anschutz Medical Campus, the CU system administration and to alumni and community members.
The is now open and will close on Dec. 9. Anyone interested in learning more—about how to submit a proposal, how to register for the event beginning on Dec. 15, and how to find answers to frequently asked questions—should visit the summit webpage.
Summit presenters will lead conversations on a wide range of topics focusing on self-care and liberation; building community through collective action; and creating change for a diverse democracy by transforming policies and institutions.
“Sessions will provide the broader CU system community with opportunities to engage with one another and discuss best practices centered on learning, teaching, research and supporting communities impacted by oppressive systems, particularly long-standing systems embedded within higher education,” said Sonia DeLuca Fernández, senior vice chancellor for diversity, equity and inclusion at CU Boulder.
