On Friday, Nov. 5, CU system President Todd Saliman announced compensation increases for eligible faculty, staff and graduate students, as unanimously approved by the University of Colorado Board of Regents. Specific increases include:
- A base-building compensation increase of 3% for eligible faculty and university staff.
- A one-time, non-base-building payment equivalent to 1% of an individual’s annual salary for all faculty and university staff who meet the eligibility criteria.
The increases are scheduled to take effect in the new university staff and faculty compensation cycle beginning in January 2022 and will be reflected in the January paycheck of those who are eligible. Eligibility criteria and more information can be found on the January 2022 compensation FAQ page.
Additional details specific to the Boulder campus include:
- A 3% increase to graduate stipends for eligible graduate students.
- Mandatory fee remission for graduate students on appointment.
- A one-time recruitment and retention incentive for frontline employees.
- A 3% one-time payment for lecturers and adjunct instructors in January with a corresponding base increase added to contracts when they are renewed.
Compensation and retention programs for staff and faculty, as well as the remission of mandatory graduate fees, have been ongoing priorities of CU Boulder campus leadership, Saliman and the board of regents, said Chancellor Philip DiStefano.
“Our people are our greatest resource. These programs help us retain top talent. I’m deeply grateful to President Saliman and the board of regents for their commitment to CU staff, faculty and students,” DiStefano said.
In April 2021, the regents approved base-building salary increases for classified staff,an increase in CU Boulder’s minimum wage to $15.00 per hour and a one-time payment equivalent to 1% of annual salary for faculty and university staff. These increases were implemented in July 2021.
