Campus officials have provided weekly COVID-19 updates throughout the spring semester. This is the last edition of this series for the summer term.
Boulder County in Level Clear until Aug. 16
Level Clear is a 90-day observation period under . Most COVID-19 restrictions are no longer required county-wide, but may be required by businesses. COVID-19-related hospitalizations will be monitored and could cause a change in level if needed. For more information on Level Clear visit .
Level Clear means general capacity restrictions are no longer in place on campus; however, some summer classes and youth camps may have exceptions.
Face coverings
. Facial coverings will continue to be required in indoor spaces on campus and on Buff buses through at least June 30, 2021. The requirement may be extended beyond June 30 based on circumstances at that time. This allows for a safer transition as vaccines continue to be administered.
Information available on completing vaccine requirement
There are two ways to complete the COVID-19 vaccine requirement: through proof of vaccination or by completing a vaccine exemption form. Information on the process for submitting information to meet the COVID-19 vaccine requirement is on the COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements and Process webpage.
Vaccine requirement has two exemption options
- Medical exemption: Medical exemptions must be signed by a licensed physician and must include a date and a reason for exemption.
- Non-medical exemption: Non-medical exemptions are provided for religious or personal beliefs that are opposed to immunizations.
As with all required vaccines, in the event of an outbreak, exempted persons may be subject to exclusion from CU Boulder and quarantine. The specifics may vary depending on the circumstances of the outbreak.
Getting the COVID-19 vaccine
The state of Colorado to help find locations to get the COVID-19 vaccine. All Coloradans 16 and older are eligible to receive the Pfizer vaccine, and all Coloradans 18 and older are eligible to receive the Moderna or Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine.
Operations update from the Pandemic Response Office
The transition to an in-person CU Boulder experience for the fall will begin over the summer. This includes changes to COVID-19 mitigation measures and campus operations. A May 11 campus update provides details on COVID-19 mitigation measures that are continuing, mitigation measures that are ending and various changes to campus operations.
Reminders:
Monitoring testing no longer required
COVID-19 monitoring testing will continue to be available through Aug. 6 with reduced locations and hours. View site locations and hours.
In the fall semester, the monitoring testing program will not be operating. Medical Services will continue COVID-19 diagnostic testing for faculty, staff and students.
Buff Pass no longer required
The daily completion of the is no longer required. Monitoring test results will still appear in Buff Pass through Aug. 6. The weekly report to supervisors is no longer being sent.
Summer 2021 event guidance
As of May 17, events on campus will be open to the broader community. Event organizers should review the updated event guidance and policy and the summer guidance policy.
Fall 2021
The fall semester will mark a return to a more traditional in-person experience, and plans include:
- Our fall academic calendar will return to normal, including fall break.
- The majority of courses will be in-person.
- Student life activities, including sport clubs, intramural sports and other student programming, will return to traditional in-person opportunities.
- Student groups and organizations will continue to meet and will return to traditional in-person meetings and events.
- Residence halls will be at regular capacity.
- Dining facilities will continue to offer a variety of dining options for residential students with a continued focus on healthy and sustainable food choices.
Staffing transition guidance for returning to on-campus work
Human Resources provided guidance to supervisors regarding the process and timing for assessing work environments and planning for increases in employee presence on campus beginning in June. The Research & Innovation Office is providing guidance on the timing and process for increasing on-campus research and creative work. Campus leaders will be working with their supervisors within each unit to develop their staffing plans.
Travel approval
Concur has been updated to reflect final approval for domestic travel for university-related business to be considered “approved” once the appropriate officer (dean or associate vice chancellor) has reviewed and signed off. Provost or chief operating officer approval is no longer required for domestic travel. International travel for university-related business still requires approval from the appropriate officer and the provost or COO. Further guidance related to travel approvals is forthcoming from the CU System offices.
