Demolition of the university-owned building at the northeast corner of Broadway and University Avenue is slated to begin today.
Fencing began going up around the 1402 Broadway site this week. Initial interior demo work begins today, Friday, May 3, with full demolition of the building slated for completion by mid-June.
The adjacent university-owned parking lot to the east will not be affected, and sidewalks along the south and west sides of the site will remain open.
The building has been vacant since the former Starbucks there closed last year. The university is removing the building as it continues to prepare the area for future development, including for a hotel and conference center.
