My name is Chad Brokaw, and I am president of CU Boulder’s Senior Class Council, or SCC for short.

President of Senior Class Council Chad Brokaw

SCC is a group of students who represent a wide array of ages, disciplinesand interests. Our responsibility is to foster and cultivate a sense of community among the senior class and, by extension, the entire CU Boulder community. You probably haven’t heard very much about us, but we work diligently in the background to make sure the senior class is heard and represented.

For example, SCC sits on the commencement committee to make sure there is student representation in the process. We work to grow and foster the senior class gift, which is endowed and goes to a scholarship for incoming first-year students. We develop the senior class videoin collaboration with an array of student groups and campus entities. The video will air before graduation this year, and we couldn’t be more excited. We also select the commencement speaker, and this year it is the amazing and influential Savannah Sellers.

These are only a few of the things that SCC does, but know that everything we do will always be for students, by students.

This year, SCC has been focused on growing and modernizing our organization so that we can be better equipped and more empowered to represent all of you. This email, which is the result of a collaboration with CU Boulder Strategic Relations and Communications, is the beginning of our new initiative to be more communicative about things that are relevant to you, the CU Boulder senior class. This is just one thing that we are starting, and we are thrilled for you all to see what we have up our sleeve for the future.

In the meantime, I encourage all of you to follow us on social media (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook). And if you happen to be hanging around CU Boulder for another year, please consider joining and becoming a founding member of the new CU Boulder Senior Class Council. To apply, just email SCC@colorado.edu.

To all of the seniors graduating this year: Goodbye and good luck (though I doubt you’ll need it)!

Sincerely,

Chad Brokaw
President of Senior Class Council
