Local and national experts will address promoting healthy body, mind and voicein two free and open talks on and off campus April 10 and 11, moderated by Associate Professor Sona Dimidjian.
Panel members will share recent advances and knowledge about how to promote healthy body image and prevent disordered eating. Come with questions, share your perspectivesand join in exploring how we can work together to support those in our community, especially girls and young women.

“Promoting Healthy Body Image”
This talk will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. April 10 in Wolf Law's Wittemyer Courtroom (room 101). Refreshments will be provided. Panelists include:
- Carmen Cool, Boulder-based psychotherapist, educator and advocate who specializes in dismantling diet culture and healing from disordered eating, chronic dieting and binge-eating disorder
- Elizabeth Daniels, assistant professor in psychology department at UCCS and studies positive influences on girls' and young women's development including media and activity contexts
- Melissa Fabello, doctoral candidate at Widener University and feminist writer and speaker whose work focuses on body politics, beauty culture and eating disorders
- Sonalee Rashatwar, grassroots organizer based in New Jersey and award-winning social worker, sex therapist and professor
“Understanding & Preventing Disordered Eating”
This talk will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fairview High School Auditorium, located at 1515 Greenbriar Blvd., Boulder. Refreshments will be provided. Panelists include:
- Linda Craighead, professor of psychology at Emory University who has published extensively in the areas of eating disorders and weight concerns
- Alan Duffy, research process manager at Eating Recovery Center in Denver and associate director of the Body Project Collaborative
- Jennifer Hagman, psychiatrist and director of the Eating Disorders Treatment Program at The Children's Hospital in Denver
- Malia Sperry, clinical psychologist and founder of La Luna Center, an eating disorder treatment center in Boulder
