Hillel of Colorado to host High Holy Days services
In celebration of the upcoming Jewish new year, is hosting High Holy Days services on campus for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Students and the greater Boulder community are invited to join Hillel for the holidays. Rabbi Don Levy will lead the services.
“We are thrilled to welcome Rabbi Levy to CU to lead our services,” said Linda Loewenstein, campus director at CU Boulder Hillel. “Our goal at Hillel is to provide a home away from home for Jewish students, and we are hopeful that faculty members will join our students for services at Old Main on the CU campus.”
Levy is a graduate of Hebrew Union College and a retired U.S. Air Force chaplain. After retiring from the Air Force, he served congregations in Colorado and Australia. He now lives in Israel, and his daughter Ma’ayan is a graduate student at CU Boulder.
“It is so important to engage young Jewish students in High Holy Day services to help further their connection to Judaism even while they are at college,” said Levy.
“I am honored to have been chosen to lead services at Hillel of Colorado in Boulder. Although different congregations in the city welcome Jewish CU students to join with them for these important days, the CU students who are active in Hillel have created a warm community for themselves. Director Linda Loewenstein and I agree that it is important to offer them an opportunity to observe these days in their own unique, student-centered environment. We look forward to seeing students and the greater community alike to celebrate the holidays with us.”
Most services will be held at Old Main Chapel on the CU Boulder campus. See the schedule and locations listed below. There is no charge for students to attend services. There is a suggested minimum donation of $54 per holiday for community members.
