CU has a large assortment of clubs, programsand organizations for you to get involved in. We want you tobe as successful as you can be, so utilize all of the resources that campus has to offer.
Your professors will say something along the lines of this to you as you start the school year:“Get involved and come to office hours whenever you have problems, questionsor need resources.” Your RA’s and professors only have the success of their students on their mind so utilize them. Be as involved as you can be, because the students who get involved the most have not only the best Instagrams, but also higher overall GPAs. Be the best Buff you can be.
CU Student Governmentis an organization you should definitely consider when figuring out how to get involved with the CU Boulder campus. Asone of the largest student governments in the country, we allocate $23 million in student fees across cost centers, programsand student groups every year. CUSGis run for the students, by the students, and will impact you throughout your time in Boulder so use your voice and get involved.
The cost centers that are under CUSGinclude, but are not limited to the Recreation Center, the Environmental Center, the Volunteer Resource Center, the UMC, the Cultural Events Board, and KVCU (Radio 1190). However,CUSGis not limited to the Boulder campus. Wework at the state level working with legislation that directly affects the students of CU. Weare working for the students and looking to improve the university as a whole.
If you are a first-year student who is looking to get involved you still have the chance to be part of Freshman Council. The council works closely with members of executive staff on programs like homecoming, electionsand legislative affairs, and they get to craft and plan events of their own! Students who are chosen have the exclusive opportunity to shadow executives and legislators for the whole year and gain skill-building (as well as resume-building) experience. It is a great opportunity for you to meet other students and really get to know CU.
Make sure to follow CUSGon Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (@CUSGBoulder) for events, programsand opportunities on campus!
