Experts from global companies such as Facebook, Disney, Activision and major U.S. advertising agencies will be at the 鶹Ƶ Oct. 24-25 for “Cultural Caffeine,” a series of public panels and events centering on the explosion of innovation in the creative industries.
Cultural Caffeine will feature panels on how advertising agencies are using technology to create new ideas and using big data to gain insight into consumer behavior. Other panels will explore how social media are redefining the relationship between brands and the rising trend in entrepreneurship within the industry.
All of the speakers are graduates of CU’s advertising program, including Kelly Graziadei (‘97), director of global marketing solutions at Facebook and Jason Hoff (’00), creative director for digital integration at Grey Worldwide.
Events will be held from 2 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, and from 10 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. on Friday. All events are free and open to the public.
“We recognized the impact our graduates were having on the advertising industry and created this series to bring their experience and insight back to Boulder,” said Journalism and Mass Communication advertising instructor Melinda Cheval. “It is important for current students to have a vision for their future after graduation. We hope these conversations will help students understand the many paths they can explore within the creative industries.”
The conference will begin with a presentation by Graziadei and Joe Corr, principle and creative director at Boulder’s School agency, on “Creating a Culture of Innovation,” on Oct. 24 at 2 p.m. in the University Memorial Center Gallery.
