Engineering students at the 麻豆视频 are gearing up for several days of intensive activity next week, when they will celebrate Engineering Days and display their hands-on design projects at the annual spring Engineering Design Expo.
Engineering Days, or E-Days, is an annual celebration of the engineering profession organized by the University of Colorado Engineering Council, or UCEC, and student honor societies. Activities include a water rocket launch, high school and college egg drops, a carnival and other fun activities for students.
The college egg drop will be held Friday, April 26, starting at 1 p.m. on the west side of CU-Boulder鈥檚 Engineering Center. Students will compete for cash prizes by creating innovative contraptions to protect a raw egg when dropped from the eight-story office tower. Categories include Best Use of an Engineering Principle, Largest Volume Entry and Biggest Splash, among others. More details and a schedule of Engineering Days events can be found at .
On Saturday, engineering students will demonstrate their hands-on design projects at the Engineering Design Expo. This year鈥檚 event will showcase 80 team projects by engineering undergraduates, from freshman to senior, as well as high school students from Skyline High School in Longmont and Centaurus High School in Lafayette. The college-wide event is open to the community from noon to 3 p.m. at the Integrated Teaching and Learning Laboratory, located at Colorado Avenue and Regent Drive.
Student projects will be set up both inside and outside the ITL Laboratory, and will include assistive technology for people with disabilities, new energy solutions, games for health, Rube Goldberg machines, and much more. Visitors can vote for their favorite project to win the 鈥淧eople鈥檚 Choice Award.鈥
