A panel discussion on media coverage of investigations and allegations surrounding football recruiting practices at the University of Colorado at Boulder will be held June 22 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in Hale Science Building room 270.
The event is sponsored by the School of Journalism and Mass Communication and is free and open to the public.
Scheduled panelists include Michele Ames, CU spokeswoman; Lynn Bartels, Rocky Mountain News reporter; Evan Dreyer, media relations director for the Independent Investigative Commission; Jean Dubofsky, IIC commissioner; and Jim Hughes, Denver Post reporter. Dean Paul Voakes will serve as panel moderator.
"This controversy has brought unusual scrutiny not only of the athletics department and the administration at CU-Boulder, but also scrutiny of the news media," Voakes said.
"This session will give us an opportunity to examine several media decisions over the last six months and I'm delighted that we've been able to assemble a panel with such close, firsthand experience with the story."
