Middle school girls who are entering the seventh or eighth grade this fall are invited to explore how engineering, math and science affect their lives by attending a free Energy Education Workshop offered by the Women in Engineering Program at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Two all-day workshops will be offered this summer on July 6 and July 28. Funded by the Engineering Information Foundation and the U.S. Department of Energy, the workshops will engage students in hands-on experiments on energy use, energy conservation and energy production. Students will work in teams to solve engineering-related problems, with a focus on applications from everyday life.
Both sessions will be held in the award-winning Integrated Teaching and Learning Laboratory at the College of Engineering and Applied Science. A light breakfast and box lunch will be provided.
Enrollment in each workshop is limited to 30 students and 30 adults. Parents and teachers are invited to participate as well, and teachers are eligible for a $60 stipend.
Call (303) 492-0083 for information and registration, or send e-mail to WIE@colorado.edu. To view a workshop schedule, visit and select Upcoming Programs and Events.
