The University of Colorado at Boulder Latino Advocacy Committee in conjunction with United Mexican American Students (UMAS) and the University of Colorado Student Union will present three events celebrating Chicano History Week next week.
Events begin with the 1997 CU-Boulder Bienvenidos Celebration, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sept. 17, on the lawn north of Regent Hall. A welcome picnic for new Latino students, the event will feature a taco bar and regional music. Latino students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends are invited to attend.
Other events will include a keynote address on Chicano history and self-identity by Rosemary Valladolid of El Paso, Texas. The address, titled “Creating Your Own Energy,” will be from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Sept. 18, at Old Main Chapel.
The celebration will wind up on Sept. 19 with a dance in the UMCÂ’s Glenn Miller Ballroom, beginning at 9 p.m.
