Fans heading to the CU-Boulder campus for SaturdayÂ’s football game against the CSU Rams can save time and headaches by knowing in advance where they plan to park and by taking one of several suggested routes.
CU Parking Services Manager Pam Greager said fans should try to arrive at least an hour before the 11:30 a.m. gametime to avoid traffic jams and to ensure getting parked and into the stadium on time. Stadium gates open at 10 a.m.
“We expect a large crowd at this game because CSU is such a big rival of CU, so we’re encouraging fans to arrive early,” said Greager.
Fans also are advised not to bring bottles or cans to Folsom Stadium. Beverages may be packed into the stadium in non-disposable containers, half gallon or smaller, and no coolers are allowed. No alcoholic beverages are allowed in the stadium and will be confiscated if brought to the game. Fruit must be quartered.
Greager recommended the following routes into campus:
• From Denver, take U.S. 36 to the Table Mesa-Colorado 157 exit, also known as the Foothills Parkway, which is the first exit off of U.S. 36 into Boulder. Take Foothills Parkway to Colorado Avenue and turn west onto Colorado, which ends on campus.
• From Fort Collins, take U.S. 287 to the Diagonal Highway in Longmont, also known as Colorado 119. Take the Diagonal to 28th Street in Boulder, turn south onto 28th street to Colorado Avenue. Turn west into campus at Colorado Avenue.
• From Golden, take Colorado 93 which becomes Broadway in the Boulder city limits. Stay on Broadway to Regent Drive and turn east onto Regent Drive to enter the campus.
Recreational vehicles also should enter campus from Broadway at Regent Drive, where they will be directed either to Lot 402, south of the Fleming Law School, or to Lot 308, west of Fiske Planetarium.
Tailgate parties will be allowed in specified lots on campus, particularly in the Kittredge Field lot on the east side of the Kittredge Commons Residence Hall and also in Lot 402. Both lots can be accessed by taking Broadway to Regent Drive to Kittredge Loop Drive, directly west of Fiske Plantetarium.
The other public lot for tailgate parties is Lot 308 west of Fiske Planetarium. Fans do not need permits to use those lots for tailgates but they must obey state and local laws regarding alcohol use and may not serve persons under 21 years old or who are intoxicated. Alcohol served at tailgates also must remain in the parking lot.
On-campus parking costs $5.
People who take limosines to the game are advised to arrive an hour and a half before game time if they want to be dropped off at the main entrance on the south side of Folsom Stadium. Limosines arriving after 10 a.m. will be directed to drop off occupants at the corner of Colorado Avenue and Folsom.
The limos then will be directed to Engineering Drive, which is located off eastbound Colorado Avenue immediately east of the engineering building between the building and the parking lot. Between five and a dozen limos are driven to games, on average, with more in use at Homecoming games.
