AGSO is lead by its officers, each with unique positions that ensure the organization is well-rounded and serves as a voice for the aerospace graduate student population.

Nominations for the 2022-23 academic year are open until Friday, September 8th at 5:00 pm MT.

Time committment per week for positions should be 3 hours or less a week.

Chair and Co-Chair

The Chair and Co-Chair are the leaders of AGSO who are responsible for general oversight of all AGSO activities, and organize and execute all committee meetings. Chairs attend Graduate Committee Meetings and represent the grad student population in meetings with faculty. Chairs will work with other officers to assign weekly coffee hour duties and other tasks.

The chair and co-chair are responsible for organizing student panels as requested by the department.

Treasurer

The Treasurer is responsible and accountable for all AGSO purchases, which must be documented and as well as submitted to the department finance office.  The Treasurer must submit a budget proposal to the department by July of each year, and is also responsible for submitting proposals for external funding sources (e.g., Engineering Advisory Board, Dean's Office).  The Treasurer is also responsible for any desirable fundraising to support non-university-associated funds.

Professional Development Coordinator

The Professional Development Coordinator will organize and execute all activities related to enhancing the professional demeanor of graduate students. This includes organizing local industry and laboratory tours and invited speakers, and advertisement of such events. The Professional Development Coordinator is also responsible for the Compact Computer Courses for Engineers (C3E) program.

Outreach Coordinator

The Outreach Coordinator will plan outreach events engaging within CU and within the community, as well as help the department plan extra events to engage all students such as seminars and workshops. The Outreach Coordinator should be eager to design aerospace related activities for K-12 students as well.

Social Coordinator

The Social Coordinator is responsible for organizing various social events throughout the year. This has included happy hours, volleyball tournaments, Eldora Day, as well as helping plan the fall social and spring gala. Traditionally, the Social Coordinator also sits on panels for the PhD visit day and new student orientation. The Social Coordinator is encouraged to come up with new ideas to engage the aero grad community throughout the year to foster a sense of 'one department'

First Year Representative

The First Year Representative will represent the first year PhD students of CU Boulder's aerospace department. Their main responsability is to express any concerns, desires for improvement, or new ideas voiced to them by their fellow 1st year students to AGSO, and provide input on how AGSO can address these points. Additionally, they are the point of contact for encouraging first year involvement in AGSO events held throughout the year.

Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Coordinator

The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Coordinator is responsible for coordinating with AGSO, department administration, Inclusive Culture Committee, Graduate Committee and student organizations to advance DEI goals for the grad student body. The DEI Coordinator will support DEI initiatives, fostering a safe and inclusive environment for all students, and serving as a point person for all matters regarding DEI and support for underrepresented minority students. The DEI Coordinator will engage with the grad student body to determine DEI-related concerns or areas of improvement. 

Communications Coordinator

The Social Coordinator sends the AGSO Newsletter and helps maintain the AGSO website. The Social Coordinator, with the help of all the AGSO officers, is responsible for creating the flyers for the different events and distributing the information for such events through the Aero Grad Slack 

MS Representative

The MS Representative will represent the MS students of CU Boulder's aerospace department. Their main responsability is to express any concerns, desires for improvement, or new ideas voiced to them by their fellow MS students to AGSO, and provide input on how AGSO can address these points. Additionally, they are the point of contact for encouraging MS students involvement in AGSO events such as AGSO Coffee Hours, Spring Gala, etc.
