Dining hacks for finals snacks

Yogurt parfaits

Studying for finals takes energy! You can find creative study snacks at our campus dining locations. Whether you crave a sweet treat or need nutritious fuel for a long study session, check out our dining hack ideas.

Spicy hummus

Hummus with any veggie is the perfect study snack. You can spice up regular hummus by adding hot sauce from the Grill (or the Latin station) to a cup of hummus. Pair it with carrots, sliced cucumbers or celery from the salad bar for a healthy snack. Or make a hardier snack by spreading it on your favorite sandwich.

Mock apple pie

Are you craving dessert but don’t want the sugar crash? Try mock apple pie. Cut up apples in a bowl and top with a drizzle of honey, half a teaspoon of brown sugar and granola for crunch. Heat the mixture in the microwave to create an apple pie texture. Enjoy your snack with green tea or yerba mate for sustainable energy and a concentration boost.

Trail mix

Create a personalized trail mix using a combination of options from various stations in the dining halls. Choose options from the salad bar like nuts, sunflower seeds, raisins or other dried fruits. Then, visit the dessert station for coconut flakes and chocolate chips. Finish off at the cereal station by adding granola or another favorite cereal option.

Yogurt parfait

The dining centers have all the ingredients to make a delicious yogurt parfait. Take a cup from the beverage station and layer it with your desired ingredients. We suggest granola or your favorite cereal, yogurt and fresh fruit.

Nachos

Nachos make a great snack or meal. If you crave a savory snack, get creative with customized nachos. Start with tortilla chips as your base. Then add the topping you like from the various stations, including cheese, sour cream, salsa, beans, olives, fresh peppers, avocado or pico de gallo.

Freshly cooked grilled cheese

Make your own grilled cheese by gathering all the ingredients from the deli station. Assemble the grilled cheese sandwich and finish it by cooking it in the panini press. You can jazz up your grilled cheese with fresh tomatoes, spinach, condiments or other ingredients.

Pizza bagel

We have all heard of bagel bites, but how about a giant bagel bite that tastes even more delicious? Toast a plain bagel, then add the sauce from the pasta line and cheese from the salad bar. Microwave the toasted bagel and toppings for around 30 seconds to let the cheese melt. Enjoy!

DIY banana sandwich

Slice a banana down the middle and spread both halves with peanut butter. Top the peanut butter with a few chocolate chips from the dessert station. Add frozen fruit chunks and granola from the yogurt bar. Place the banana halves back together and enjoy a sweet and nutritious treat. Add some walnuts or almonds to your banana sandwich for an extra energy kick.

Get creative with your snacks

Curb your hunger with a creative approach to snacking while you study. Add variety to your routine by trying different campus dining locations. Snacks are also a great way to use Munch Money and Campus Cash.
