Bio: Luke grew up in Bend, Oregon. He earned an undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Montana State University, where he worked on engineering biomimetic nanomaterials based on viral capsids. He subsequently earned his PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Oregon studying the evolutionary biochemistry of the S100 proteins with . Luke joined the Smith lab in the Spring of 2018 to probe the genetic, molecular, and biochemical underpinnings of flower color evolution. He recently took a new position in crop science at CSU but continues to collaborate with us!
