AJ (Jamie) Mullennix (they/them) is a graduate student in the Religious Studies department. They graduated from UNC Asheville in 2021 with a B.A. in Anthropology and a minor in Religious Studies. Their undergraduate thesis consisted of ethnographic work that centered how a congregation understood and worked to subvert of white supremacy culture as it relates to Christianity.

While at CU Boulder, they study the relationship between queer and trans identities, popular culture, Christianity, and (when applicable) the Southern Gothic genre. To better approach this research, Jamie is pursuing CU’s Women, Gender, Sexuality Studies graduate certificate and acts as coordinator for SOSR. In addition to their studies and SOSR, AJ is co-editor of NEXT, CU Boulder’s Religious Studies academic journal.Ìý
