Educational Outreach & Broadening Participation

Educational Outreach & Broadening Participation

Expanding our Educational Outreach and Broadening Participation contribute to the larger impact of our Institute - leading our nation towards a future where all students routinely engage in rich and rewarding collaborative learning by working in teams composed of both students and AI Partners. We are implementing curricula that focus on relevant topics. We partner with various stakeholders, including our partner districts' teachers, for AI curriculum development that will reach close to 1,500 students per year, and engage a broad group of students through our Learning Futures workshops. We have launched programs to develop the skills of current and future AI researchers.

CoBi Teacher Training

Teachers participate in a professional learning for one of our curriculums

Teacher Advisory Board (TAB)

Teachers who have experience with our curriculum units are being recruited as advisory board members to help us develop and test technologies to facilitate classroom collaborations. TAB members provide feedback on technological design components through interviews, surveys, and testing. They learn about and contribute to the development of cutting-edge collaborative technologies for classrooms.

High School Internship Program

This research experience program for high school students develops the students’ capacity to envision, co-create, critique, and apply student-AI collaborative learning technologies. Interns learn about our research and complete a research project based on their interests around AI design and development.

Community Events

Through community events, NSF iSAT works with trusted partners in K-12 to offer various ways for students to engage with AI content and potential career pathways. This helps us broaden our presence in the community and grow the next generation of talent.
