Dr. Terry Fong is the Director of the Intelligent Robotics Group and听Senior Scientist for Autonomous Systems at the NASA Ames Research听Center. Dr. Fong currently leads the NASA Human Exploration Telerobotics听(HET) project, which develops and tests advanced telerobotic systems on听the International Space Station. Dr. Fong is also Deputy Lead for the听NASA Resource Prospector Mission lunar rover.
From 2002 to 2004, Dr. Fong was the deputy leader of the Virtual听Reality and Active Interfaces Group at the Swiss Federal Institute of听Technology (EPFL). From 1997 to 2000, he was Vice President of听Development for Fourth Planet, Inc., a developer of real-time听visualization software.
Dr. Fong has published more than one hundred papers in space and field听robotics, human-robot interaction, virtual reality user interfaces, and听planetary mapping. Dr. Fong received his B.S. and M.S. in Aeronautics听and Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his听Ph.D. in Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University.
