AMS Chapter
The CU Boulder American Mathematical Society (AMS) Graduate Student Chapter is an organization run by students and for students with the stated goal of encouraging research-level mathematics in cooperation with the national AMS. It’s one of over 40 such local chapters of its kind in the US. Its organizational goals include supporting existing seminars and student-led forums monetarily, endorsing outstanding graduate students in their final semester, coordinating interdepartmental tea-socials, and fomenting other initiatives to contribute to the academic climate here at CU. While contributing to the excellence of the CU Boulder Math department, involved students develop leadership and communication skills and gain valuable experience managing funds and working together.

United Government of Graduate Students
The United Government of Graduate Students (UGGS) aims to improve the academic lives and general well-being of graduate and professional students. Some of the ways it does so are by offering grants for both individual travel and group events, hosting social events such as an annual picnic and karaoke nights, and especially by working with the administration to advocate for graduate student issues such as higher pay, health care benefits, parental rights, and more. UGGS is always open to suggestions for how it can better serve the community of graduate and professional students, so if you have an idea then come to a general assembly meeting or contact one of our department representatives. Information on assembly meetings, grants, social events, ongoing projects, and more can be found on the webpage.
