Anna Spain Bradley, associate professor of law and assistant vice provost for faculty development and diversity, is a featured speaker at the 15th annual conference co-hosted by the Institute for Transnational Arbitration (ITA) and the American Society for International Law (ASIL). This year鈥檚 conference, themed 鈥淒iversity and Inclusion in International Arbitration,鈥� will be held April 4, 2018, at the Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.
Spain Bradley is a panelist on the panel entitled 鈥淒efining the Issues.鈥� Moderated by Professor Won Kidane of Seattle University School of Law, the panel will discuss the notion that the diversity of decision-makers in international investment and high-stakes commercial arbitration matters has not kept pace with the increasing diversity of the users. The panel will closely scrutinize the causes of the continued diversity deficit in international arbitration, setting the stage for the second panel, entitled 鈥淎 Critical Look at Solutions.鈥�
This will be the first major international conference to tackle the issue of diversity and inclusion in international arbitration, with the 鈥渁mbitious aim of shaping the conversation and providing practical, actionable ideas to effect positive change,鈥� according to the event website.
A recognized scholar of international law, Spain Bradley specializes in international human rights, international dispute resolution, and peace and security. Spain Bradley received her JD from Harvard Law School and is an elected member of the American Society of International Law鈥檚 executive council.
The half-day ITA-ASIL Conference is presented annually in Washington, D.C. by the ITA Academic Council with the American Society for International Law (ASIL) immediately preceding the .
