Our laboratory has collaborated with different industries on research contracts. Our experimental laboratory and aerosol transport modeling expertise can be useful for the development and testing of particulate matter sensing or mitigation technologies in indoor and outdoor applications.

Our expertise includes:

  • Controlled laboratory studies in custom-built chambers
  • Emission measurements from aerosol sources
  • Field studies in real indoor environments and ambient measurements
  • Personal exposure studies
  • Modeling of particulate matter transport between outdoors and indoors and within indoor environments

Our laboratory instrumentation and experimental capabilities include:

  • Particle sizing systems, laboratory-grade, portable, and low-cost
  • Kanomax Aerosol Particle Mass Analyzer
  • TSI laser photometer
  • Aethlabs 5-wavelength aethalometers
  • Thermodenuder
  • Atomizers and other aerosol generators
  • Table-top chambers
  • A 38 cubic meter aerosol emissions evaluation room, separate from the building's HVAC system, with a independent 30 ACH flushing system
  • Access to GC-MS, ICP-MS, transmission and scanning electron microscopy, and other shared facilities

The Â鶹ÊÓƵ has a history of industry collaboration and master agreements with a variety of large companies in the US. We have also worked with companies which do not have a master agreement as a custom agreement can be created for each specific project.

If you are interested in collaborating with our laboratory as an industrial partnership, please contact Prof. Marina Vance.
