Fall 2016 Update
In the summer of 2016, the team conducted an assessment of our current project in the community of Godak in Ilam, Nepal. Based on the data collected, the program has decided to move forward with implementing a filtration system for this site that is aimed towards improving community access to more reliable, less contaminated water. In addition to the project at Godak, the travel team assessed communities that EWB Nepal will be working with in the future. After a decade of working in the Ilam region, our program is in the process of expanding to other communities in Nepal. The communities which we are looking to expand into were affected by the tragic earthquake that hit Nepal in the spring of 2015. These communities are still in the recovery process which provides us with many opportunities to aid them in their recovery. There are many potential projects including water treatment, rainwater catchment, waste management, sustainable energies, or the development of educational programs for the community’s children. As a new project that requires additional assessment, new members can get involved right from the beginning.
