Have you ever considered independent study?
Independent study is an opportunity for you to earn academic credit for learning outside the formal class structure, under the individual direction of a faculty member. It’s intended to fill an academic need of importance to the student that cannot be filled by the regular curriculum.Ìý
So if you have an idea for a specialized area of study that you'd like to dig into (and it isn’t being covered by regular coursework already), consider consulting with a relevant faculty member to discuss your proposed project scope and deliverables.Ìý
An independent study enrollment can be from 1-3 credit hours, and a maximum of 3 hours may be taken in any one semester (and maximum of 6 hours overall toward a bachelor’s degree). Prior written approval, via the College’s Independent Study Form, is required before you start work.Ìý Review Independent Study Policy & Guidelines to learn more, and talk with your academic advisor to see if independent study is right for you.
