You may have received a course alert or an email from a member of a College of Engineering & Applied Science academic student support service and wondered, 鈥淲hy am I getting this?鈥�

Course alerts are a campus-wide initiative that college faculty can participate in. The goal is to give faculty an opportunity to notify students early in the semester if they are concerned about their grades, attendance, or other areas of academic performance in the course.

Academic student support services such as Professional Academic Coaching, the BOLD community and members of Student Support and Advising Services use this information to help connect students to resources and support when there is plenty of time to make positive change. We are here to support each one of you.

Calling all transfer students! Join us as we celebrate National Transfer Student Week at CU Boulder. The week will be filled with events designed specifically for transfer students that will allow you to meet other transfer buffs, experience campus and have fun! We hope to see you there!

If you're considering participating in or guiding a team through the NVC competitions, join us as we kick off the 2023-24 NVC competitions! Stan Hickory, director of the New Venture Challenge (NVC), will be online to talk about changes to the NVC, how to register your venture and other essential updates. NVC connects the CU Boulder campus with the Boulder community to develop and fund innovative ideas. Participants attend year-round events, network and collaborate with mentors to refine their ideas and form startup teams to pitch for funding鈥攎ore than $100,000!鈥攁t the NVC Finals.

DGC Demo Day is a chance for students to visit the DISH Grand Central location in downtown Denver and hear from different teams about the innovative work being accomplished. Each team will prepare a 20-minute presentation accompanied by a demonstration. Sometimes it can be nice to just talk it out with someone.听Peer academic coaches听are upper-class undergrads who have a passion for helping others. They undergo extensive, ongoing training by professional academic coaches. Meet this year鈥檚 coaches 鈥� next up is Thomas!

鈥淚 am pursuing an aerospace engineering major and minors in Russian studies and space. I chose to be a Peer Academic Coach to help other STEM majors work through challenges they are facing. Academic coaching has been helpful for me when working through stresses both inside and outside of school; I want to do the same for others if I can. A few of my hobbies and interests are playing Dungeons and Dragons, video games, MMA (mixed martial arts), reading comics, skateboarding, learning languages, and dancing.鈥澨�Learn more about Thomas and see his coaching schedule.
