It’s hard to keep track of all our new academic and administrative buildings in this era of major construction that rivals the expansion during the 1960s. Kicking it off were Wolf Law and Roser ATLAS in 2006. ATLAS, which stands for Alliance for Technology, Learning and Society, houses everything from the Technology, Arts and Media academic program to an avant-garde theater space. The Leeds School of Business’ stunning Koelbel Building was completed in 2007.
The Visual Arts Complex replaced the crumbling Sibell Wolle Fine Arts building in 2010.The Center for Community houses student services and an innovative dining hall, which opened in 2010. That same year the Institute of Behavioral Science building opened. Finally, JILA is adding on, and the Jennie Smoly Caruthers Biotechnology Building, to be completed this year, aims to facilitate collaboration among scientists from multiple disciplines to address critical challenges in bioscience.
