Natanya Chatfield is a senior studying media production who showcased her project, The Virtual Industrial Show, in the department’s fall showcase.
Drawing upon her interest in virtual reality technologies and inspiration from the clothing brand Carhartt, Chatfield built a virtual fashion showroom within a “brutalist” setting. She styled and positioned the avatars—actually 3D-rendered students—in ways that encourage viewers to immerse themselves in the VR world. She said the virtual landscape “brings forward a dynamic portrayal of virtual fashion as the viewer explores.”
