The Virtual Industrial Show - Natanya Chatfield
Virtual Reality
4 minutes
A virtual reality exploration into the fusion of art, fashion and the digital world. This is a showcase of virtual fashion within an immersive "brutalist" setting. I have chosen the work of designer Carhartt to base the project design upon.
Natanya Chatfield
As a senior at CU Boulder majoring in Immersive Media Production within the CMCI department, I am interested in exploring virtual reality technologies. My academic journey has helped me gain an understanding of VR programs, preparing me for a future within this field. As I near graduation, my goal is to either advance to graduate school or begin my professional path through an immersive media-related internship, leveraging my knowledge and skills acquired at CU Boulder.
The Virtual Industrial Show
This project is a dive into the digital virtual reality realm where the boundaries between art and technology blur. Guided by photogrammetry people who are placed in an industrial landscape, the VR landscape brings forward a dynamic portrayal of virtual fashion as the viewer explores the virtual scene. The story doesn't just focus on technological advancements but explores the emotional connections of entering into a new world made within a digital landscape.
These avatars, styled and positioned by me, are theoretically meant to portray a Carhartt fashion showroom as I wanted to pick a particular brand upon which to base the styling. They are also placed intentionally within the space to best showcase their designs as they harmonize with the environment's brutalist concepts. As viewers immerse themselves, they're not just passive observers, but have the agency to explore, wander, and interact, giving them the power to shape their own narratives.
