Emily CoBabe-Ammann

Dr. Emily CoBabe-Ammann is the Senior Director of Strategic Projects at the University of Colorado, serving as the Chief Research Strategist for the campus.  In that capacity, she works with departments, colleges, centers and institutes to develop new research directions that align with national interests and priorities.  She is currently the Acting Associate Director for the Center for National Security Initiatives, working across the campus as it transitions towards conducting classified research.  She is also leading the campus quantum science and engineering strategic initiative (CUbit).   She led CU-Boulder’s Grand Challenge: Our Space, Our Future and co-led the University’s visioning effort, Academic Futures, an effort to transform the teaching and research enterprises of the campus.  Prior to joining CU, she was the Director of UCAR Community Programs, managing a $45M portfolio of education, training, data, and science support programs. Emily has 20 years’ experience in science and education management and strategy and has worked extensively with NASA, NOAA, NSF, DoE, and DoD. In addition, she served the Education and Outreach advisor for the Commercial Space Federation from 2010 to 2013. Dr. CoBabe-Ammann received her Ph.D. in Earth and Planetary Sciences from Harvard University in 1991.
