Bio:ÌýJack graduated from CU Boulder in 1964 with a BA in History on a Marine Corps ROTC scholarship and subsequently served as an officer, and advisor to ARVN units, in Vietnam.ÌýHe later returned to CU Boulder to complete his MA in American History. He then earned his PhD from the U of Michigan, again in American History. He went on to become a professor and dean at Northwestern University. He retired in 1997 and served as the volunteer curator of the Bonsai Collection at the Chicago Botanic Garden.ÌýÌýÌý

He and his wife, Jeannie, moved back to Boulder in 2002.ÌýJack has served on the boards of the Center of the American West (CAW) and the Center for Humanities & the Arts (CHA), as well as being a long-standing member of the Dean's Advisory Board. He is a colored pencil artist.ÌýJack and Jeannie were Boulder campus volunteer co-chairs for theÌýCreating FuturesÌýcapital campaign.ÌýIn 2020 they were awarded a University Medal by the CU Regents.Ìý
