Our students design a customizable, interdisciplinary degree that leads to a broad range of career opportunities. Students simultaneously pursue an engineering degree while exploring a concentration outside of engineering.

A degree in integrated design engineering gives students the opportunity to pursue an engineering degree while simultaneously exploring another area of interest. This interdisciplinary degree prepares students to become the engineers of the future: broadly educated and ethical global citizens who are capable of becoming leaders in business and public service, as well as in research, development and design.

Academic Plan & Requirements

The integrated design engineering degree allows students to choose an e+ emphasis, an area within engineering in which to specialize. Students also choose an e+ concentration, an additional field of study that meets their interests and career goals.

To earn a BS in integrated design engineering, students must complete:

  • Foundational coursework: 46–48 credits
  • Engineering core courses: 28 credits
  • e+ emphasis courses: 22–28 credits
