Not Just Mathematics

Not Just Mathematics

This is a visual representation of five mathematical functions and how they interact. Each of the colors corresponds to a single function. Together, the functions create this impressive figure. Interestingly, if any one of the functions were to be removed the structure of the entire figure would change. Taking away a single function not only changes the color makeup (e.g. no more red) but also how the image looks structurally.

Changing even just one small thing has a ripple effect that alters the bigger picture in a major way. This is the way of life, not just mathematics.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ the Artist

Trent is a student of Mathematics at the University of Colorado. Math supplies the structure behind his work and computer programming gives it life. Trent’s artistic style is inspired by the intricacy of mathematical structures and the unique ways in which different functions and operations interact with each other. Focusing on the parallels between the complexities of math and life in general, he hopes to inspire curiosity and encourage acceptance of things that we do not understand.
