- Joe Ryan started doing community-engaged scholarship in 1999 and hasn’t looked back. Ryan takes seriously CU Boulder’s responsibility to be a statewide resource and how community-based work enhances every aspect of his job from teaching to advancing research to securing new research funding.
- CU Boulder’s Orit Peleg will use the support from the award to launch a novel, interdisciplinary probe of the physics of firefly communications.

- Ashleigh Lawrence-Sanders’ research looks at how Black memory exposes the “lost cause” myth. Lawrence-Sanders is an assistant professor of African American and U.S. history.
- Argrow is a professor and the Schaden Leadership Chair of the Ann and H.J. Smead Department of Aerospace Engineering Sciences. He was also recently elected to the National Academy of Engineering.
- Ferguson has been elected to the distinguished American Institute for Medical and Biomedical Engineering’s College of Fellows. Her research seeks to enhance human health by better understanding the materials and mechanics of the body, as well as finding effective solutions to treat patients’ injuries and illnesses.
- The National Academy of Engineering is recognizing Argrow as a new member for 2022. The professional distinction is one of the highest an engineer can receive. Argrow has conducted major research to advance uncrewed aerial systems to increase our understanding of supercell thunderstorms that can spawn tornados.
- On Feb. 16, NASA announced that CIRES Director Waleed Abdalati has been appointed to the NASA Advisory Council.
- A new documentary series looks at how nature can help humanity solve some of the world’s biggest problems, and one of the episodes features a Paul M. Rady Department of Mechanical Engineering professor.
- As senior associate dean for faculty and research at the Leeds School of Business, Yonca Ertimur has a full portfolio of responsibilities. She recently accepted an editor role at Review of Accounting Studies, while she’s also an editor at two other journals.
