DU Visiting Assistant Professor Ben Nourse will speak at the Denver Art Museum on Wednesday, February 17, 2016, 12:00 p.m. as part of the museum's Asian Art Association lecture series. His talk will explore the world of Tibetan printed materials, from the initiatl production of hand-carved printing blocks to the various printing styles that emerged among Tibetan printing centers. Professor Nourse will also look at examples of non-book uses of printing in Tibet, such as printed talismans, ritual implements, and artistic prints. Drawing from Professor Nourse's research at Tibetan printing houses and in rare Tibetan book collections, the lecture will showcase some of the artistry and the diversity of woodblock printing in Tibet.
